I’m a journalist and documentary maker living in London, and working for British, American and European broadcasters, production companies and digital platforms.

I grew up in an immigrant Tamil family in Germany, and spent nearly 20 years living in the United States, where I worked on a variety of public television documentaries, investigative news and magazine programs, and digital video series. Along the way, I shared in some of America’s most distinguished broadcast journalism awards, including a News & Documentary Emmy, two nominations, a Peabody, and a Webby.

Between 2020 and 2022, I returned to Germany to make my first feature-length current affairs documentary. The film, titled The Journalist And Her Jailers, is about the world’s first trial against members of the Syrian regime, for crimes against humanity. The Journalist And Her Jailers won German public broadcaster ARD’s Top of the Docs competition and premiered on Channel 1, screened at human rights film festivals, and was nominated for the 2023 Roman Brodmann Prize for social and political documentary. The film has been translated into four languages, and is being distributed internationally through First Hand Films.

As a European Journalism Fellow at the Freie Universität, I plan to take courses in 20th-century German history, learn advanced archive research methods, and delve into the art and craft of biography, in preparation for upcoming projects.
