The conference of the Kolleg-Forschergruppe, directed by Profs. Tanja Börzel and Thomas Risse, will focus on the EU at the receiving end of external influences and the diffusion of ideas, policies, and institutions into Europe. The conference has three major themes around which the panels will be organized:

1.     External Influences on European Institutions and Policies: Historical and Contemporary Perspectives

2.     External Perceptions of the EU and Their Impact on EU Institutions and Policies

3.     The Euro Crisis as an Instance of Diffusion and Policy Transfer: Does the EU Learn?

For this academic conference, we invite papers from various disciplinary perspectives to each of these themes.

Please send your paper proposal with a one-page abstract by September 15, 2011, to transform-europe@fu-berlin.de. Invited paper givers will be notified at the end of September. The Kolleg-Forschergruppe will take care of their travel costs as well as accommodation in Berlin during the conference.
