Francisco Daniel Alvarez Langenbach, a former student of the Master's program “Sociology - European Societies”, is honored with the prize for outstanding thesis 2024 by the German Sociological Association (GSA).
Francisco receives the prize for his Master's thesis, supervised by Prof. Dr. Endre Borbáth and Prof. Dr. Céline Teney, entitled “Orbán's children. A cohort and period analysis of Hungarians' attitudes during the illiberal period of Viktor Orbán”.
In his thesis, Francisco examines the impact of the Fidesz government in Hungary on individual attitudes. The thesis is based on the argument that a long-standing illiberal government changes individual attitudes. Thus, the research question of this thesis is highly topical and provides valuable insights into the possible role of an illiberal populist government in changing citizens' attitudes towards democracy.
We are proud and congratulate Francisco on this success!
