Workshop: Minimum Wages: International Experiences and Evaluation
International Workshop
6 – 7 October 2022
Berlin
News from Sep 12, 2022
The minimum wage is one of the most frequently discussed topics in the field of labour market policy. A major part of the research published at the international level has investigated the minimum wages in the United States and Great Britain – and increasingly, the German minimum wage. The workshop will focus on the existing body of research on the effects of minimum wages and the methods for reliable scientific evaluation. It will also emphasize experiences and minimum wage research from European countries that feature less prominently in the international research literature. Of interest are not just
the effects of the minimum wage on employment, but also the impact of the minimum wage on various indicators, such as wages, employment, poverty, productivity, profits and prices. The presentations will also address methodical challenges, such as the measurement of noncompliance and the calculation of hourly wages. In addition, findings on the consequences of the corona pandemic for the minimum-wage sector will be highlighted.
The workshop will be held in English with simultaneous translation into German.
