The Thematic Group on International Organizations (TGIO) of the German Political Science Association (DVPW) held its annual conference from 15 to 16 July on the topic of “Participation and Sustainability in International Institutions: Opportunities, Risks and Practices”. Prof. Lena Partzsch participated in a roundtable on democracy and sustainability together with Prof. Andreas Niederberger, University of Duisburg-Essen. The discussion dealt with tensions between international institutions and national democracies in the field of sustainability. The participants also spoke about transnational actors in the global transformation process. Prof. Partzsch introduced her research on power and narratives. Moreover, she was discussant in the panel on the inclusion of non-state actors with papers of Laura Ulrich (University of Mainz) and Melina Tretmans (University of Frankfurt).
