Prof. Dr. Lena Partzsch Partzsch gave a keynote speech at the Global Forum on Food and Agriculture (GFFA) on 17 January 2025 in Berlin. The expert panel “Aligning biomass production with HRDD and local food security: practical approaches“ discussed the challenges and opportunities of socially sustainable biomass production in the Global South. New regulations such as the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) and the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) are intended to lead to greater responsibility for social issues - including the protection and realization of the human right to food. The discussion focused on how companies can implement their due diligence obligations in biomass production. Other panelists were Benedetta Camilli (Head of Agri Feedstock Initiatives and Programs, Eni SpA), Max Jürgens (Senior Associate, Cattwyk Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG), Michael Kitetu (Voluntary Sustainability Standards Expert) and Pia Lorenz (Sustainability Manager 4C). The forum was organized by Welthungerhilfe and Meo Carbon Solutions.
