Kathrin Ackermann, Junior Professor for Empirical-Analytical Participation Research at the University of Heidelberg, presented the result of her current research on context effects on the political participation of the population: "Activation through context? An analysis of the connection between civic norms and participation". She discussed different types of context effects and emphasized the importance of this phenomenon with respect to the question of participation in democratic societies.
