Visit of the Japanese Delegation in October 2009
At the end of October 2009 a student group of TAMA University, Tokyo, Japan travelled throughout Europe to get impressions about how themes of European Integration are being taught in various EU member states. Among Italian, Romanian and Finish cities, one stop has been at the Freie Universität Berlin.
In general, the group was eager to learn how activities of the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence "The EU and its Citizens" contribute to disseminate knowledge about the European integration process. The special interest of the group has been the linkage of national and European identity in the context of deepening and widening the EU.
Therefore an interdisciplinary round table debate with professors, lecturers and students with a political, sociological and historical background has been organized in cooperation with “The European Academy Berlin” (EAB).The fruitful discussion at the EAB revealed appropriate tools in higher education to make “The EU and its citizens” a vital concept for the European integration process.
