Winfried-Fest-Lecture
The lecture honors the publicist and former speaker of the Senate of Berlin, Winfried Fest, who died in 1994. Fest was also one of the founding advisors of the European Journalism-Fellowships. Since 2000, the lecture marks the start of the new fellowship year. The Winfried-Fest-Lecture is one of our most important regular events, where we welcome invited guests from all parts of the German society. After the lecture there is always an opportunity for private conversations.
Winfried-Fest-Lecture 2018
The Winfried-Fest-Lecture 2018 took place in the Conference Center of the Seminaris CampusHotel in Berlin. This year's speech was held by Dr. Christian Humborg member of the board of trustees of CORRECTIV. He spoke about the topic: "Between rise and fall- media in between platform capitalism".

Winfried-Fest-Lecture 2016: Tina Hassel
The Winfried-Fest-Lecture of the 17th year of the European Journalism-Fellowships took place as a New Year's event at the Congress Center of the Seminaris Campus Hotel on January 21, 2016th
The speaker was Tina Hassel, studio manager and editor in chief of the ARD Berlin Studios with the topic "Look at this city ?! The changes in the capital under the sign of European journalism crises."

Winfried-Fest-Lecture 2014: Elke Pohl
Ines Pohl, the chief editor of the taz was the keynote speaker at the Winfried-Fest-Lecture 2014.
The speech "Friendly fire. Germany and the NSA debate," moved the role of journalists in the focus of the debate. Subsequently, the speech was discussed in plenary and in personal conversations.

Winfried-Fest-Lecture 2013: Nikolaus Blome
The speaker on the Winfried-Fest-Lecture 2013 was Nikolaus Blome, a member of the SPIEGEL editors in chief.
He spoke to the 15th EFJ Fellows, members of the Fest-family and invited guests on "Germany, unloved leader in Europe".

Prof. Dr. Dieter Stolte, former ZDF director, delivered a speech about "How television changes idea of man".
Winfried-Fest-Lecture 2007: "The need of public broadcasting service"
Dr. Verena Wiedemann, ARD-Secretary General, spoke about "The need of public broadcasting service".
Winfried-Fest-Lecture 2006: "The future of newspapers"
Prof. Werner D'Inka, publisher of the daily newspaper "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung", orated about "The future of newspaper".
Winfried-Fest-Lecture 2005: "Lessons learned? Europe at the crossroads"
Dr. Christian Schwarz-Schilling, former Federal Minister, made a speech about "Lessons learned? Europe at the crossroads". The peaceful co-existence in society starts with a common solution of daily problems on a local level.
Winfried-Fest-Lecture 2004: "The role of media for the civil society in the 21st century"
Dr. Christina Weiss, Minister of State with the Federal Chancellor and Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media, gave a speech about "The role of media in civil society in the 21st century".
Winfried-Fest-Lecture 2003: "The role of universities within a Europe of knowledge"
Prof. Dr. Dieter Lenzen, President of Freie Universität Berlin, spoke about "The role of universities within a Europe of knowledge". The system of education and formation stands for the problem that in shaping Europe today, it is a necessity to create an awareness of the fact that we are all Europeans.
Winfried-Fest-Lecture 2002: „Cultural policy within the process of European integration“
György Konrád, former President of Universität der Künste (Berlin University of the Arts), delivered a speech „Cultural policy within the process of European integration“. We are Europeans to the degree that we cultivate an understanding of different cultures along with the requisite intellectual empathy. At the same time, we trust in not losing our own identities in this process.
Winfried-Fest-Lecture 2001: "Berlin - 20 years of change and construction"
Eberhard Diepgen, former mayor of Berlin, orated about „Berlin - 20 years of change and construction“. The wall is gone. Now European borders must be opened toward the east. The path is longer than one might think, but we are on the right track toward fulfilling the legacy of those autumn days of 1989, toward creating a free, peaceful, and just Europe.
Winfried-Fest-Lecture 2000: "On the resistance in Germany"
Joachim Fest, historian, author and former publisher of the daily newspaper "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung", made a speech about "On the resistance in Germany". The resistance in Germany was engaged in a losing battle for dignity, justice, and self-respect. It was a resistance without people, or rather, against people.
