Prof. Ingrid Volkmer joins the CRC 1265 “Refiguration of Space” as Research Fellow

The research project "Translocal Networks" is pleased to welcome Prof. Ingrid Volkmer as Research Fellow for the next months at the CRC 1265. She is Professor for Digital Communication, Globalization and Digital Politics at the University of Melbourne, Australia. In her research, which always has an international focus, she explores questions of the spatiality of digital communication, journalism in the context of crises, and digital sovereignty. She has contributed to digital policy debates at UNESCO, the ITU and the OECD and published widely in these areas. Among her recent publications are ‘The Transnationalization of Public Sphere and Global Policy’ and ‘Digital sovereignty and approaches to governing globalized data spaces’. She has just completed a 24-country study in partnership with the World Health Organization, Wunderman Thompson and Pollfish which had a focus on the way Millennials and Gen Z use social media for COVID information. Key results will be officially launched around November 25, 2021.
