Prof. Dr. Mohammad M. Mojahedi is currently Visiting Professor of Comparative Political Theory at Freie Universität Berlin. He is a political theorist by training. Over the past few years he has been visiting several European Universities including University of Amsterdam, University of Cambridge, and Leiden University, and a research fellow at several European Institutes for advanced studies including the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study (EURIAS Fellowship), Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW Visiting Fellow), Workgroup Islam and Modernity at the Wissenshaftskolleg zu Berlin (postdoctoral fellow) and University of Cambridge Centre for Research in the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities. At Mofid University, his home institute in Iran, he has been teaching several under- and post-grad courses including comparative political theory and methodology.
In addition to editing a book volume on political violence beyond the secular/religious divide, he has recently introduced the notion of “The Poverty of Culturalism” as a theoretical device to criticise the varied discourses of (and on) Islamism and post-Islamism.
