Anna Holzscheiter ist seit April 2015 Juniorprofessorin für Politikwissenschaft und Internationale Beziehungen am Otto-Suhr-Institut für Politikwissenschaft. Für das akademische Jahr 2014-15 befindet sie sich als John F. Kennedy Memorial Reseach Fellow am Center for European Studies der Harvard University.

Seit April 2015 leitet Anna Holzscheiter die Nachwuchsgruppe „Globale Gesundheitspolitik“, die gemeinsam von der Freien Universität Berlin und dem Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin GmbH (WZB) eingerichtet wurde. Die Nachwuchsgruppe untersucht, wie internationale Organisationen auf die zunehmende Zersplitterung der Akteurslandschaft in der globalen Gesundheitspolitik reagieren. Das Forschungsprojekt will erklären, unter welchen Bedingungen internationale Organisationen ihre kooperativen Beziehungen untereinander intensivieren, um die kollektive Problemlösungsfähigkeit zu erhöhen. Es fokussiert dabei auf die Wirkung globaler Normen, die gutes globales Regieren als geordnetes und harmonisches Zusammenspiel aller für ein Problemfeld relevanten Akteure definieren.

Von Juli 2006 bis März 2015 war Anna Holzscheiter als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin an der Arbeitsstelle für Transnationale Beziehungen, Außen- und Sicherheitspolitik tätig. In der Zeit zwischen August 2007 und Oktober 2010 nahm sie als Visiting Research Fellow am Department of Public Health Policy der London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine ein Forschungsstipendium der DFG wahr. Seit 2003 hat sie wiederholt als Beraterin für UNICEF (Genf, Florenz) sowie für das Deutsche Institut für Menschenrechte gearbeitet.

Ihre Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen im Bereich der Theorie auf konstruktivistischen, sprach-basierten Ansätzen in den internationalen Beziehungen; auf dem Einfluss nicht-staatlicher Akteure auf die internationale Politik; sowie auf der Entstehung von Governance-Architekturen in institutionell dicht besiedelten Politikfeldern. Empirisch arbeitet Anna Holzscheiter zu internationalen Menschenrechtsnormen (insbesondere Kinderrechten); zur Rolle und Einfluss von Nichtregierungsorganisationen in Prozessen der internationalen Standardsetzung; sowie zur internationalen Gesundheitspolitik.

Prof. Dr. Anna Holzscheiter befindet sich im Wintersemester 2018/2019 in Mutterschaftsurlaub.
