Since 2018 Dr. Dominique Miething has worked as lecturer at the Otto-Suhr-Institute of Political Science in the subfields of Civic Education and in the History of Political Thought at the Freie Universität Berlin. Previously, he was employed by the same institution for two years as Visiting Lecturer and chaired the professorship of Civic Education between October 2017 and September 2018.

In 2016, Dominique Miething completed his doctorate with a scholarship by the Hans Böckler Foundation (Hans Böckler Stiftung), which funded his research on the transnational reception of the philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche in the anarchist movements between 1890-1947.

After receiving his Master of Education in 2012, Dominique Miething worked as an educator and tour guide at the German Historical Museum (Deutsches Historisches Museum) for the special exhibitions "German Colonialism. Fragments Past and Present" (2016/2017), "Multicultural. Germany, a country of immigration" (2016) and "Sticky Messages. Antisemitic and racist stickers from 1880 to the present" (2016) and at the Jewish Museum Berlin (Jüdisches Museum Berlin) giving tours and workshops for youth and adult groups on topics related to German-Jewish history in the nineteenth and twentieth century.
