Roel Popping is lecturer at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands. His book on “Computer-Assisted Text Analysis”, published in 2000, was one of the earliest to deal with this topic in such a scope. Roel Popping’s publications and research interests focus on knowledge development, the creation and use of knowledge graphs, network approaches in and methodological problems with text analysis. Furthermore, his recent research project on the development of democracy focuses on the press’ role in enhancing or undermining Russian and East-Central European transitions to democracy
