Thomas Risse is Professor in International Relations at the Free University of Berlin. He just published a book called "A Community of Europeans?: Transnational Identities and Public Spheres". In the past decade, he has directed a research project on a European public sphere and a research project on the depiction of armed conflicts and humanitarian interventions in European and US media. Besides the public sphere and identity, his research interests encompass human rights, international relations theory, and governance in areas of limited statehood.

Thomas Risse is the director of the Winter Method School.
