Large-N Content Analysis
Brit Helle Aarskog is an information scientist with a specialisation in text linguistics. She taught courses on large N content analysis at many universities and participated in various international projects (e.g. RECON). She wants to go beyond quantitative content analysis and include measures delineate how a problem is being discussed and how a debate can be positioned in time and space. Besides counting words, she stresses the importance to include knowledge provided by the grammar and how words systematically cluster in a text. She created a tool for content analysis, called TextUrgy, that combines automated procedures and coding by researchers.
At the Winter Method School in Berlin, Brit Helle Aarskog will hold the session on large-N content analysis.
