Right-wing populist parties take on increasing importance in Europe and pose fundamental challenges to liberal democracies. What causes can be identified and what are the political consequences? To what extent do populist parties formulate and mobilize socio-political alternatives to the "Liberal Script"? These questions will be discussed in the mirror of the European elections 2019 and within a versatile panel gathering experts from science, politics and culture fields: Prof. Dr. Michael Zürn (SCRIPTS), Prof. Dr. Miriam Hartlapp (Arbeitsstelle Deutschland und Frankreich im Vergleich), Priya Basil (Writer, Activist), Dr. Sergey Lagodinsky (MEP, Bündnis 90/ Die Grünen), Dr. Susanne Fuchs (SCRIPTS), moderation.
The event is organized by the Cluster of Excellence "SCRIPTS: Contestations of the Liberal Script" in cooperation with the Center for European Integration and the Center for Comparative Politics of Germany and France.
