I am enrolled in the MA Program "Public and Private Environmental Management" at the FFU. In cooperation with the TERI Institute in New Delhi I am conducting a research project on climate change with special focus on carbon markets. I would like to analyze India´s role in international climate change politics from an Indian perspective. The primary focus will be on the options, risks and opportunities of India´s participation in the global carbon market. I want to investigate which options - beyond CDM - such as no-lose- sectoral crediting, sectoral trading or a reformed CDM mechanism are available to further integrate India into the global carbon market without harming the economic development. Moreover, I want to figure out if and how such measures could be implemented and what policy tools would be required for that purpose. The research is carried out based on qualitative interviews with experts and concerned administrative bodies on national and state levels as well as with relevant stakeholders from industry and NGOs.
