TERI University
Shailly Jaiswal is a PhD student at TERI University, India and her research topic is ‘Socio-economic impacts on livelihoods due to variability in melt water flow pattern’. She is interested to explore the livelihood patterns in Western Himalayan region and study the impact of glacial melt water on the downstream community.
As part of ‘FFU/TERI German Indian Climate Change Dialogue’, Shailly will look into governance and adaptation strategies for the Alps mountain regions and correspondingly, it will be identified how the existing policies in the Indian Himalayan region influence dependence of people on melt water variations. She will perform interviews with experts, policy makers and community stakeholders in Germany to understand what are the considerations taken into account when designing policies in developed countries to combat impacts of climate change.
Shailly holds a Masters degree in Climate Science and Policy from TERI University and her masters dissertation work was on Mapping Impacts of Climate Change on Rural Livelihoods.
