The Ecologic Institute, in partnership with the German Environment Agency (UBA), the Öko-Institut e.V., the Environmental Policy Research Centre (FFU) and Disaster Research Unit (DRU) of the Freie Universität Berlin would like to cordially invite you to our high-level parallel event taking place on the margins of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development 2021.

TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE ADAPTATION PATHWAYS –
Learning from integrative action targeting
SDGs, Paris Agreement and Sendai Framework

on 7 July 2021 at 12:00 – 13:30 (NYC time), 18:00 – 19:30 (CEST)

The event will focus on best practices for sustainable adaptation and integrative action targeting the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Paris Agreement and the Sendai Framework. Prof. Dr. Dirk Messner, President of the German Environment Agency will open the event with a key note speech and David Jacome Polit | City of Quito, Loretta Hieber Girardet | UNDRR, Madhushree Chatterjee |UNDESA and Rodrigo Rodriguez Tornquist | Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development Argentina will bring on-the-ground experiences from around the world to the table that have successfully strengthened the capacities of people and institutions to adapt to climate-related risks, while ensuring sustainable development.

The discussion, moderated by Dr. Camilla Bausch, will focus particularly on the following overarching questions:

  • How can we move forward integrated action linking SDGs, the Paris Agreement and the Sendai Framework?
  • How can sustainable adaptation pathways for a resilient future be shaped?
  • Which good practice examples on the local and national level do already exist that enhance capacities for sustainable adaptation?
