The Weizenbaum Institute invites you to the fifth Weizenbaum Conference on "AI, Big Data, Social Media, and People on the Move". It will take place from June 19 to 21, 2023 at the Silent Green Kulturquartier in Berlin.

This time, the conference will focus on "People on the Move." It is about the question of how Artificial Intelligence and Big Data are used by "people on the move" who - voluntarily or forced - change their places of living or their social position, for example through migration, flight and labor mobility.

This year's keynote speakers are Petra Molnar and Philip Howard. Molnar is a lawyer and anthropologist specializing in technology, migration and human rights. She is the associate director of York University's Refugee Law Lab and a fellow at Harvard University's Berkman Klein Centre for Critical Internet. She will give a talk on "Technological violence and high-risk experiments at the border."

Political scientist and communications scholar Philip Howard is a professor at Oxford University and chair of the International Panel on the Information Environment. The award-winning author writes on information policy and international affairs. He will give a talk on "Scientific Collaboration Across Borders: The International Challenges of Analyzing and Responding to Algorithmic Bias, Manipulation, and Misinformation."

Admission to the conference is free. Registration is available on the conference website.
