Erasmus Programme

If you are a student at one of our partner universities and wish to study at the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology, we would like to provide you with some basic information.

Please note, that our BA and MA program in Social and Cultural Anthropology are generally taught in German. However, we usually offer 2-3 BA and 2 MA courses per term in English. The thematic focus of these courses will vary from term to term, while the exact course program will be published only a few weeks in advance.

But you can consult our current course catalogue as a general reference.

  • If you are a Bachelor student, select "Core subject Social and Cultural Anthropology (2018 study regulations)"
  • If you are a Master student, select “Master's programme in Social and Cultural Anthropology (2022 study regulations)”

The teaching language is usually indicated by the course title.

To prepare your learning agreement please observe the following 3 requirements:

1) BA-students may only receive ECTS in BA-courses and MA-students only in MA-courses.

2) Students should take at least 2/3 of their courses (e.g. 20 out of 30 ETCS) either in Social and Cultural Anthropology, or as Language courses, or with the course program for exchange students (for these special courses also see here).

3) We ask all students in the Erasmus Exchange Program to see the Departmental Erasmus Coordinator at the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology, Mrs. Angelika Wolf, in her office (room 109) at any Thursday between 3 and 7 p. m. within the first four weeks of the term.
